Located in a residential area in the heart of historic Rochester, Sherwood House is a specialist dementia care home providing full time residential and short term respite care for the elderly.

The home combines Victorian character & charm with thoroughly modern facilities to provide a spacious and familiar environment without the clinical feel often found in larger purpose built care homes.

When the time has come to move into full time residential care...

If your elderly loved one is living with dementia, you know they need a very particular kind of care. And if the time has come when caring at home is no longer an option, you'll know they need a very special kind of care home to accommodate their needs.

Located in the heart of the town and just a short walk from Historic Rochester, Sherwood House is a home and community dedicated to the needs of those living with dementia. Dementia care is all we do and we have the specialist expertise and environment to be able to give give your loved one the highest possible care, wellbeing and happiness in their later years.

Compassion, kindness & endless patience

Living with dementia, your loved one sees and experiences the world differently to the way we do. To care for someone with dementia takes empathy, calmness and endless patience.

All our care staff undertake comprehensive dementia training to truly understand your loved one's needs. More than that, they are carefully chosen for their kind, understanding, and caring nature so you can rest assured your loved one is being looked after the way you'd want them to be.

However, don’t just take our word for it. When searching for the perfect care home for your loved one, it's important to seek independent views from those that have actually experience the care a home has to offer. We are all astounded at how far Mum has come

Tina H Daughter of Resident

My brother, sister and I would never have put our Mum into care, but circumstances left us with no choice. We were all mortified at the prospect. In such a short space of time, Mum started to improve in every way. She went into Sherwood more or less bedridden and with no will to carry on. Now, she is living life again. Her mobility is improving, and she is smiling and joining in.

It is obvious that she is surrounded by such caring staff who go way beyond normal duties and really care about their charges. We receive constant updates and feel we are always kept informed by the wonderful staff. We are all astounded at how far Mum has come. There are no words to convey just how happy we are with the amazing package that Sherwood House provides. Many, many thanks to all.

Our aim is for you to feel that your loved one is truly as cherished by us as they are by you, and for them to see Sherwood House as their new home and not just somewhere they are simply staying at.

New friends, happiness, fun, and a real sense of community

A converted Victorian house with 32 light and airy rooms and modern facilities and amenities, Sherwood House offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere where your loved one will find genuine friendship and companionship with both staff and fellow residents.

Our rooms and communal areas are designed with your loved one's comfort and well-being uppermost in mind. We have made them dementia-friendly, making it easy to navigate and reducing stress. With the support of our dedicated team of experienced and long-serving staff, we're confident you'll find your loved one will settle in quickly and will soon be at ease.
